Introduction to Collecting Kaleidoscopes

Collect

col·lect
kəˈlekt/
verb
gerund or present participle: collecting

“seeking, locating, acquiring, organizing, cataloguing, displaying, storing and maintaining whatever items are of interest to the individual collector.” But this is too dispassionate a definition – it doesn’t convey the pleasure derived from owning beautiful objects and experiencing a never-ending range of colors, shapes and patterns.

Collections of kaleidoscopes are as individual as the collectors and the kaleidoscopes that they collect. Kaleidoscopes are made with such variety and viewing experiences, that collectors often select representative scopes of each basic type. Some collectors purchase representative kaleidoscopes from many artists. Others specialize in an artist or art form. However you start, collecting kaleidoscope can be addictive.
