Occultation Randy & Shelley Knapp

Occultation was a production scope made from one solid piece of Koa or Padauk, the eyepiece is just a hole in that end of the scope.  The cell was dry, non-turning and integral to the scope.  The end of the cell was clear piece of glass that had lines inscribed in various directions across the surface, adding to the image.  There was no lens.  The cell is filled with small pieces of dichroic glass and small pieces of dichroic glass that have been heated in a kiln until they formed small dichroic balls.  The first of these scopes are from January of 1991.

The scope came with a draw-string bag.

It is signed on the cell end of the scope – “Randy Knapp ©”.

This scope is very reminiscent of Randy’s first scope in 1989 – “Tactile Heaven”, but a slightly simpler shape.
