Fruit of the Forest Randy & Shelley Knapp

Fruit of the Forest is an open edition sculptural parlor scope. They are signed and dated. Initially there were probably 4 made in 2003. In 2013, the last scope of this series was made. The scope bodies were a turned piece of Oregon Myrtle because that was a local figured wood that Randy could harvest and dry himself in a larger size than would be normally available. The eyepiece ring, chamber turning knob and chamber light port ring were made from an accent wood, the scope made in 2013 differs from the earlier scopes in that the accent pieces were ornamentally turned. The internal cylindrical object cell is turned by an external turning knob. The chamber light port was a piece of frosted glass slumped in a kiln to make a dome shape. The cell is side lit with a black background. The cell objects are flame worked glass including miniature hand-blown marbles made by Randy. It has a 2 mirror, 6 point tapered mirror system.
