Eclipse is one of my favorite scopes. It was made by Stan Griffith, a retired welder. It is signed “90 E.S. Griffith © SG -2-“. The dual marble kaleidoscope is made from copper foiled stained glass with elaborate decorative soldering. The 2M/10P mirror system is set in a parallelogram type arrangement that allows the 2 marbles to overlap in creating the mandala. If you rotate the small marble, it changes the inner part of the mandala and if you rotate the larger marble, it changes the outside portion of the mandala. The marbles and the colored glass rods that are attached to the outside of the kaleidoscope are made by Robert Lichtman. Unfortunately, the artist only made kaleidoscopes for a short period due to failing eyesight.
